Being Serbian, I also find equalising Cyrillic with Russian mildly annoying. Or even worse, when people call it "Russian letters".

With that being said, I do think it's harder to make a clear programming language based on is a Slavic language, due to all the case and gender forms.

A lot of peple in this chain aren't paid to have a sense of ownership. They just do their job and their personal opinion of the work doesn't really matter.

Some of us care. Standing up and saying the product is crap leads to being asked to leave (fired). Or ends up on deaf ears, and the product is hated by people. Been in both situations, it doesn't seem there is a winning position.

Weird, I have exactly the same experience with GitHub Copilot Plugin in JetBrains vs Copilot CLI in the built-in terminal.

The plugin keeps asking for permissions, the terminal app just works.

I'm using chatbots for search, but that's only because Google became so horrible at it.

Generally, people don't care about "fields being impacted", and the students certainly don't. People care about the impact certain technology has on their daily lives, on their welfare and the ability to pay off their mortgage and provide a decent life for their children.

It's more useful to view the whole situation as EU politicians prioritizing to have their pockets filled with lobbyist money, rather than the EU as a political entity deciding this per se.

It's not completely fair. The US also bullies them into doing those things, it's not only "pure corruption to fill their pockets".

How many European countries buy American weapons because they are scared of what would happen if they pissed off the US? And then they still get tariffs and threats of military invasion.

I genuinely think it's not ok even then. Copilot is a tool, one of many I use. That tool has no business polluting commit messages without my knowledge.

The appended message isn't even adding any new information, as in this day and age a vast majority of commits is probably "co-authored" by an LLM.

I should have been clearer, the hidden addition is never ok.

If I ask Claude to write a commit message, it will inserted a co-author line (and an ad), but I can see it and disapprove, add a counter instruction to CLAUDE.md etc
