Makes sense if they are planning to concede in Ukraine. The Russian economy is dependent on continued military buildup, so they will try to continue with that but go back to their cold war-era posturing with the forces and matériel produced.

The problem of the hype-train starting to cool is the only real problem it solved or will ever solve

Does this mean that work created with it can be copyrighted? Since the courts ruled that the inclusion of pilfered IP was the reason other model's work cannot be copyrighted, I would think so! In that case, this is a completely different beast. It can maybe be used for things that need a durable copyright.

Their board of directors are literally wanted by the US for crimes. What do people expect from such a company? I shake my head any time I see a VW.

This really makes it clear. Thank you!

I have always taken an untrusting approach to LLMs for coding, born out of them being absolute trash at first. They're 1000x better now, but I still guide it every step of the way. It limits my speed gains, but I got what I wanted: no more typing out code and looking up patterns to get the exact syntax.

It must not be that difficult since I have never used a Meta product in my life. I had a Livejournal, lol.

What a lot of use on here are salivating for is the ability to run these on prosumer hardware at home. So we tend to jump to the conclusion that "standard" means "consumer-grade" because that's what we want to see. Still, very cool work!

thank you deflator, I understand this now! much appreciated

A consumer "Standard GPU" could mean about a 6-8gb VRAM GPU still in support by the manufacturer, independent of CUDA/etc proprietary technology.

Recent Steam hardware survey top GPU list is:

- RTX 3060 (6 or 12gb VRAM)

- RTX 4060 (8 or 16gb)

- RTX 3050 (6 or 8gb)

- RTX 5070 (12gb)

- RTX 5060 (8gb)

- GTX 1650 (4gb!)

That list only covers about 22% of survey respondents but sets a 6-8gb VRAM baseline for consumer GPUs.

Can this run on an RX 570 8gb form 2017? Maybe that's a ways back. A 1660 6gb from 2019? Intel? They had a decent budget run in recent years.

Mmmm, what I could do with a cluster of H100s like that. Tim Allen grunt

The caddyshack gophers must have moved on to chemical warfare
