Alternative front end for Lemmy (looks like old.reddit) (mlmym.org)

My feedback:

- Lose post numbers, make vote&thumbnail take less space horizontally - they tske enough to make the site look broken on mobile.

- Likewise, info about the post is too long- you can probably get away with hiding the instance a user is from, changing "posted 9 hours ago (last edited 5 hours ago" to "Posted 9h ago (edited 5h ago)"

- Merge the "expand/embed" button with the thumbnail

- Add reply, share, save, hide, etc buttons next to "x comments". Just color them different if not logged in, otherwise you're giving the impression that the functionality is missing

- Make "permalink" include context, or add a "context" button

- Make the list of communities on the top bigger and line-wrapped. They're too small to comfortably click on mobile

- Change the theme a bit so it doesn't actually look like a Reddit clone.

With UIs like this is how you get regular people to migrate. The current server/instance is way too complex for the majority of the people. If this was available and promoted a couple weeks ago I bet there would be a lot more users now.

Lemmy has enough users.

performance should be their primary goal

The initial sign up process should he smoother as well. Anecdotally, the non techies I know simply got confused/overwhelmed with starting and gave up.

Looks impressive :) Just add some cat memes and we are back in the good old days.

On a more serious note, are there any lemmy instances that host the non-meme part of reddit (like askelectronics or functionalprint)?

https://discuss.tchncs.de/ seems to be picking up.

Alternatively, I'd be keen on inviting you to communick.news and help you bootstrap any type of community of this kind.

Not exactly like old.

On Firefox (Android) with uBlock it's *noticably faster* to load than Reddit. I hadn't realised how slow Reddit was in comparison, as it's fast enough.

On mobile in Portrait orientation, the first two columns (item number? And preview) are much too wide. If you zoom out, there's a bit of white space on the right-hand side that the top bits don't reach to.

Hopefully that can be tweaked. Really happy with this though, will hopefully use it.

This is amazing. We need to spread the word about this. Current UI of Lemmy is a clunky mess.

This is great, but I'd like to see oauth support. I'm a bit hesitant to enter my credentials for other Lemmy instances on a site that is proxying them.

Where can I download this theme for my lemmy instance?
