This is yet another reason why HTTP is a garbage protocol, nearly no better than FTP.

If it had been designed to have even a modicum of client retry like DNS or SNMP, DDoSing multiple endpoints would be much harder.

Also, no need for load balancers, which are a wart and SPOF on any design.
