The only way I see this reversing is if Israelis vote for a government that sends Netanyahu to stand trial for war crimes. (Under Israeli or international law, doesn't particularly matter, so long as it results in jail time for him and his accomplices.)

sure, many Americans don't have a great relationship with the map- as per the trope. Even if many Americans are unable to locate Iran on the map, they know that Israel is pulling us into a third world war, at least every time they have to fill their gas tanks, paying historic fuel prices.
